There's always Tak-Baht at Wat Lao in DSM for Lao New year. This year, I don't know when. I hardly go. But I know they'll have a big event there, lots of food.

Does anyone know how many ethnic groups celebrate this holidays? I know Lao, Thai and Khmer do and India has their Holi, it's spring festival.

Another question is when the Buddhist year change? What month? Is it this month?

Maybe Lao people called it new year because everything reborn again in spring time.

Just got back from new Iberia for Lao new year. Had a great time except the weather was really crappy. It was cold, rainy and we had alittle sleet on top of that too. everybody was wrapping everything up by 6 pm Saturday. Me and my sister went to the temple to have the monks bless us and they tied the strings around our wrists.
