I got one :) eiei.. saw it on the bus in Thailand.

You Kno me little go.

"Thur roo jak chun noi pai laew" - Thai

Lao - Jao hoo jak koi noi pai laew

English: You don't know me enough.

Oracle1o1
06-28-2006, 12:54 PM
Another one ahaha..

Thai people likes to say "puen puen" meaning "in general" or "very basic".

So, the english one is "floor floor " :D

hahaha...my brother is notorious in translating Lao into English. If you can hear him talk is even funnier. I only remembered a few.

siin num thoak- waterfall beef
Seua hong hai - crying tiger
Laap seua-tiger laap

Why does this remind me of Sao noi disco?

"keut pai keut mah" - Think go, think come
"tahm nah tahm lanhg nae ngon het yung nun" - Ask front ask back before you do anything.
"boh hen nah hen nouat doan laew" - Haven't seen you your face, your mustache long time
"jeb houa jeb hangh" - hurt head, hurt tail

it's even funnier in conversation. =)

hen hoop leo oua, hen ngao leo coop, hen koop leo xai=see a picture and accepted, see a shadow and crab, see a hat and put it on. It's metaphor for not thinking things through before doing making important decision.

what's this about "koi noi"?

thats how my brother in law would read it anyway. he speaks enough lao now to get by, but he still has the accent all wrong. When he's talking on the phone, people he's with are always laughing in the background cause he still cant say "kauy" without making it sound like "koi". Koi huck jao, or koi kit haud jai. hahaha

hahaha...translating word for word can be very funny. Sometimes we just have to translate what it means. Like "think come think go" can be "after giving it a lot of thoughts" or "thinking back and forth".

ooooo...I like this one "kit ma leo" can mean "come to think of it".
